I have always been fascinated with airplanes, ever since I was a little kid.  My late uncle was the catalyst for this, as he used to fly control line models.  I played with balsa gliders then moved up to stick & tissue models, some of which actually flew!  Later I experimented with rubber-powered gearbox foam models, which flew quite well.

I finally ventured into RC back in 1986, after I got out of college and got a real job.  My uncle fixed me up with a Sig Kadet Mark I kit and an OS 35 engine (converted from control line - carb instead of venturi).  The kit was 3-channel, but I added the optional ailerons.  The OS 35 barely got it off the runway, but it flew!  It had a Kraft 4ch FM radio, so we had to pass the box for training.  Ah, the good ol' days!  I still remember one of my instructors telling me it flew like a truck, but it taught me how to fly.

My first adventure into electric was around 1988.  My uncle had built a Great Planes ElectriCub and asked me to test fly it.  It barely had enough power to climb flying straight-and-level, but lost the gained altitude in the turns.  My uncle was disappointed with it, so I ended up with it.  I replaced the full-size radio gear with a Futaba Attack-E "electric" radio, which reduced the weight by 6-8 ounces and it flew beautifully - loops from level flight!  That convinced me that it was worth the extra money to get the lighter components for electric flight.

I've been married to my very understanding wife Linda since June of 1986, almost as long as I've been flying RC.

My father got me started with model aviation when I was about 5 years old. I remember sitting at the kitchen table and building my free flight rubber powered airplanes while my dad worked on his control line models. All of this lead to 1/2A and larger control line airplanes and then escapement remote control that worked occasionally, then on to 2,3 channel and full house r/c.

I obtained my private pilots license in 1978. Along the way I joined EAA and started building full scale, the last one in 1994 that was a 7/8 scale WWI Nieuport 11 replica. I actually have a flight check in my logbook in this airplane and flew it for over 100 hours before selling it to a rancher in Arizona.

I never lost interest in model aviation and my current passion is plans built 1/4 scale (and maybe larger) models.

I am married with one daughter who is a junior at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.

I am looking forward to serving our club as your Vice President/Secretary and want to thank you for placing this trust in me. You guys and gals are a great group, see ya at the flying field.

I got started in RC in 2007 with a Heli-Max Axe EZ coaxial.  I have added several helicopters and airplanes to my collection since then, everything from a micro Blade MSR up to a 50 size T-REX 600 that flys on an 8 cell 5000mah LiPo, all are electric.

I am interested in gas powered airplanes and nitro powered helicopters.  I may venture into those areas as time and money permits.  I also enjoy flying the small indoor electrics, pylon racing and funflys.

I have been racing bicycles for the last 22 years. I try to get about 5k training miles in each year.  Before that, from about 1982 to 1988, I road raced motorcycles in the 750cc class.

It just so happens I got married to my wife Nancy in 1988.  I have an 18 year old daughter and a 16 year old son.  I have a degree in EET, and have worked in IT for IBM the last 30 years.
