Did you know one of the country's largest RC Swap Meet & Auction is less than 200 miles from your location?   The 2021 Dayton Modelrama RC Swap Meet & Auction is quickly approaching.   This year, we're making a number of changes to make this the best show yet.

First, we're moving the show from early February to April 23rd & 24th.   Yes that's the second change in the show.   Dayton Modelrama has always been a one day show, we're now expanding it to a two day show.  Last year we booked 275 tables in a 26,000 sq. ft. building.   For the 2021 show, we've booked a second building (16,000 sq. ft.) giving us a total of 42,000 sq. ft.. This was done to accommodate expansion and safe social distancing.

To insure it's success, we've implemented a massive advertising campaign including a 1/2 page add in the January AMA Model Aviation Magazine, we're mailing to attendees and vendors from past shows, AMA clubs within 200 mi. radius, and every Hobby Shop in OH, MI, IN, KY..    Additionally, we've contacted manufacturers and distributors who attended the Toledo show and advertised in national publications.   This is our first time to invite these businesses who serve our hobby, our hope is to bring a number of them into the show.

The Dayton Modelrama has been around for 20+ years, it's one of the largest in the country and in a recent survey to past attendees we received overwhelming enthusiasm and support for our show.

Here are some specifics with dates and times -
Montgomery County Fairgrounds
645 Infirmary Rd.
Dayton OH 45417
Friday April 23rd - set up begins at 11:00 am and the show opens at 2:00pm to 6:00 pm
Saturday April 24th - set up begins at 6:30 and the show begins at 9:00am to 1:00 / 1:30pm - The auction begins immediately after the show.  BTW if you've never been to our show, the auction is huge and includes planes, parts, field equipment etc., It's HUGE!

Here is the best news of all - especially in these times.   The price remains the same, in fact we've made it very cost effective to attend both days.   The same applies for renting a table(s).    A one day admission is only $8 or you can buy a pass for both days for only $10.   Tables start at $16 for one day or $20 for both days, and you receive one admission ticket with every table rental.

There is camping on site at the fair grounds and a number of motels are close by.
There will be door prizes, grand prizes, food concessions and a ATM machine is on site.
I've included a flyer for your review and you can visit www.daytonmodelrama.com for more specifics including a couple of nice videos.   Finally I'm also including a map of where to unload or park your vehicle if you'll be purchasing a table.

Questions, contact daytonmodelrama@gmail.com or call Paul at 937-361-7696.   Get your table reservations in early, we sell out every year!

See you at the show!

Latest update from the organizers...

Dayton Modelrama continues to book tables and I am responding to inquiries.   Most frequent question asked - “is the show still going to happen”?    Each time I have answered with a resounding YES!   You’ll find it interesting that two weeks ago I attended a model train swap meet at the same venue as Modelrama.   There were two hundred tables and attendance was brisk   Last weekend at the same building was a local gun and knife show – 215 tables and the building was full of shoppers.   COVID 19 protocols were followed at both events and I would judge the events as a success.   Things are getting better in Ohio, the governor recently raised curfew from 10:00 PM to 11:00 – and local stations are reporting that the 11:00 curfew could be lifted next week.
Dayton Modelrama is shaping up to be a great show.   As of today, we’ve have reserved more tables in the first month than previous shows in the same time frame.  Several national vendors who want to show their products have purchased booths.   As an example, Micro Fasteners and National Balsa booked 23 tables. Vintage R/C Society, Sky Bench Aerotech, TGK Connectors, Dave’s RC Electronics, Strick Model Products, have also reserved booths.   Modelrama has booked both vendors and swappers from Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Connecticut, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and Indiana (and everywhere in between).
To promote the event, advertising has been strategically placed with a ½ page ad in Model Aviation Magazine, 18,000 followers on Facebook, including past Modelrama vendors and attendees.   Finally, we have reached out to every AMA club within 200 miles of Dayton.
Tables are going fast; wall tables are almost gone!  Now is the time to book your reservation as a swapper or vendor.   If you will be attending as a patron, make your plans to attend now!  Last year we were forced to turn away people who waited too long to reserve a table, we sold all 275 tables (that was in one building)!
Please plan to stay for the Auction after the show on Saturday, it is one of the biggest in the country.   You will find everything from miscellaneous parts in a box to complete Giant Scale aircraft.
As a reminder Modelrama runs April 23rd and the 24th.   There is camping on site at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds and there are motels close by.   We have expanded by renting a second building giving us a total of 42,000 square feet, it’s huge!  I have attached a flyer for your review and a map with instructions to unload vehicles.   You can also watch a couple of informative videos at http://daytonmodelrama.com/
Modelrama is one of the few shows booked for this year, do not miss out on a great show and a lot of fun.

Dayton Modelrama March Update

Dayton Modelrama has been an active and growing RC Swap meet for over 20 years.   Over the years we have experienced a phenomenon we call the “The Eight Week Rush”.   To date we’ve received reservations for over 170 tables to modelers like yourself, however time has taught us that we’ll soon be receiving reservations for tables at a much faster pace.   Last year we had some modelers show up day of the show without reservations and we had exceeded our 275-table limit.   That is why it’s important to get your reservations in now.   Tables can only be held with the completion of a reservation form and your check.
We have addressed the 275-table limit by purchasing a second 16,000 building giving us a total of 42,000 square feet.   This was done to address growth and social distancing.   Even with this additional footage I encourage you to complete the attached registration form and mail it in with your check.   Tables start at $16 per day and you can convert a one-day table to a two-day table for an additional $4.   Over 95% of our reservations have been for both days.
If you’ll be attending as a patron, the entrance fee is still just $8, however you can convert a one-day pass into a two-day pass for an additional $2, you’re reading that right; entrance for both days is only $10 (note: you must purchase the two-day pass on Friday).
We have a lot of activities planned for the show, a number of manufacturer distributors will be in attendance, there will be door prizes, food concessions both days.   The AMA will have a booth to answer your questions.  An ATM is on site and for you campers, a campground with water and electric hookups are available (reservations are made through the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, see flyer).

What you need to know:
Show dates -April 23rd and April 24th
A number of Toledo vendors have joined our show.
Location: Montgomery County Fairgrounds 645 Infirmary Road Dayton, OH 45417 (Beautiful New Buildings)
Friday exhibitor set up begins at 11:00, doors open to patrons at 2:00pm to 6:00pm
Saturday show hours – Vendor set up at 6:30am and doors open to patrons at 9:00am
Dayton Wingmasters Members will be on site to help you unload your vehicle.
    Saturday – A HUGE Auction begins around 1:00 / 1:30
This is an AMA sanctioned event.
There have been numerous shows at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds since August without issue.  A recent website update revealed 12.31% of Ohio’s population has received at least one vaccination and it increases by 192,000 each week.
Exhibitors will have all variations of models, RC Planes, Helicopters, CL Planes, Drones, RC Boats, RC Cars, etc. and all the parts and pieces to support our wonderful hobby.   Each year people are walking out of the building with planes in hand, there is a lot of buying and selling that goes on!  We continue to advertise show dates and we’re expecting a great show.
Dayton is centrally located near major metro cities to the north, east, south and the west.   We have exhibitors coming in from CT, PA, OH, GA, MI, AL, TN, IN, IL and KY.  Join us for one of the largest RC Swap Meets and Auction in the Country.   Visit us at http://daytonmodelrama.com/

See You at The Show!

As the old saying goes “We’ve rounded turn four and we’re on the home stretch!  As predicted in my last update, registrations are coming in fast, if the current pace continues, we should exceed 300 tables.    We have 22 Mfg. / Dist. attending, and as mentioned, we have an excellent shot to exceed 300 tables.   With the addition of the second building, we have been able to grow the show while maintaining social distancing.   If you have attended previous Dayton Modelrama, the layout will seem different.  We have widened our isles to avoid bottlenecks and contact situations.

COVID Update - The State of Ohio has begun loosening restrictions, i.e., schools are open curfews lifted, there will be graduations and people will be allowed in sports stadiums.  However, Ohio still has a mask mandate.   The Governor gave a target number and once Ohio hits it, the mask mandate will be as lifted as well.   The Governor predicted that at the current rate of decline it could happen in the next six weeks, not soon enough for our show date but it is an indication that things are progressing in the right direction.

To Sellers:
The good news is, we have limited space still available.   Wall tables are sold out, but we have some choice spots left on the interior.   If you have items in your hanger you no longer want, or projects you’ve lost interest in, rent a table or several tables and sell them.   A one-day table is only $16 each and can be upgrade to a two-day table (Friday & Saturday) for only four dollars more and that includes your free admission (one per table rented)!.   Fill out the attached registration form and mail it with your check to insure you get a spot.   If you have already rented a table(s), you will receive another e-mail.

General Admission:
Are you looking for that special plane, or it may have been discontinued?  If so, you have an excellent chance at finding it at Modelrama.   I found a plane that had been discontinued on Tower and it was built less engine and it had never been flown.   Perhaps you have an interest in learning more about RC, this is the perfect place to gather information and to talk to experienced pilots.   You will find new, slightly used or projects that we’re started but never completed.   This includes airplanes, helicopters, drones, boats, and cars along with parts and pieces and field equipment.   One day general admission is priced at only $8 which can be upgraded on Friday to a two-day pass for only $2 more (two days for $10)!  Children under 10 are admitted free.

Auction:
Don’t forget to attend our Auction Saturday afternoon!  Starting time will be approximately 1:30.   You’ll have the opportunity to bid on hundreds of items and there will be hundreds of people placing bids.   What’s common to see, if someone does not sell an item from their table, they’ll scoop it up and enter it in the auction.   To sell an item, the commission fee is only 10% of the winning bid, a minimum of $2 but not to exceed $20, Some say it’s the highlight of the show!   To participate, you, don’t have to be a swap meet table holder.  Anyone can enter an item(s).   We will start collecting merchandise Saturday morning.

Visit http://daytonmodelrama.com/ for more information or you can call me at 937-361-7696.  Be a part of one of the largest RC Shows in the country!!!

See you at the show!
