Brian Butts just informed me that since he has moved away, he will no longer be arranging the indoor fly-ins at Roundtripper Sports Academy. However, I have decided to get things arranged. I have been communicating with Jay Lehr at Roundtripper and he would certainly like to have us back this winter. So, here is what I have thus far.
First of all, I have been asked by quite a few people about the possibility of flying every Saturday night. I know the past 2 winter seasons, we flew every other Saturday night...which totalled 8 or 9 fly-ins. Well, I'm happy to report that Roundtripper has offered us 15 Saturday night fly-in dates!
Now, lets talk money. Roundtripper is charging us $275.00 per fly-in. I believe we should keep the at-the-door price at $20.00, as in the previous winter seasons. Additionally, I believe we should offer a season pass, as well. I'm thinking $150.00 for a season pass payable prior to or at the first fly-in on November 13. That is a heck of a deal...that breaks down to only $10.00 per fly-in...a 50% savings over the at-the-door price. You can pay me by cash, check, money order or via PayPal (

Lets look at some season pass/at-the-door payment examples.
1. Assuming we have no season pass members, we will need 14 participants paying the at-the-door price of $20.00 to cover the $275.00 Roundtripper fly-in charge.
2. Assuming we have 10 season pass members, we will need 9 additional participants paying the at-the-door price of $20.00 to cover the $275.00 Roundtripper fly-in charge.
There are several scenerios that could take place when running the numbers. Of course, the best possible scenerio would be to have 28 season pass members . Seriously though, the bottom line is that we need as many people as possible showing up to make this thing work. I'm not in this to make money. Any cash collected beyond what is required to cover the $275.00 Roundtripper fly-in charge will be used to cover any shortfalls that may occur in future fly-ins.
Regarding rules... electric aircraft only, as in previous seasons. AMA license is not required. That's pretty much it.
Please inform your friends about the fly-in dates. I look forward to a fun indoor fly-in season.
