We're planning to start the hotdog roast at 6pm this coming Saturday, 4/17.
This is an excellent opportunity to bring the family down to the field for a cookout!

The club will provide the hotdogs, drinks, condiments, plates and eating utensils.
We would ask that you bring a covered dish (with food in it) or a dessert.

I was at the field this evening and checked the grill to make sure that it's still working.
For those that would rather, I will be bringing my hotdog roasters for those that want to cook them over the fire.
We will also have marshmallows and fixin's for those that want to make S'mores.  Smiley

Since it doesn't get dark until about 8:30pm, be sure to bring some planes to fly both before and after dark.
I may bring my lawnmower and get some practice flights in with it.  Smiley

Current weather forecast is predicting a high of 65 degrees with partly cloudy skies.
Should be nice weather to gather around the fire.

Hope to see you there!

If you're planning to attend the Hotdog Roast/Nite Fly, please email me at president@indyrcsouth.org to help give us an idea of how much food/drinks to buy.

Thanks!

Current forecast for 6pm is Sunny and 56 degrees with a breeze from the NNW at 15.

You might want to bring a jacket/blanket along.

We will have a fire, to help keep us warm!  Smiley

See you there!

Well, our first event of the year is already behind us now.  It was a bit cool and a LOT windy, but I hope those that showed up still had a good time.  It was good to see former member Steve Woods join us!

Had trouble keeping the grill lit, due to the wind.  Thanks goodness Bob Badger brought a heavy-duty lighter so I could keep relighting it.

Not many people flew, due to the wind.  Barb Middleton got her kite out, in the hopes that the wind would die done, like it normally does.  Bill Rugenstein got in several flights with his EPP fleet.  I think Jerry Bunner got a flight in with his Bug.  I flew my Habu jet and Phase 3 P-38 before it got dark.

Only Bill and I flew after dark.  As predicted, the winds did finally calm down.  He had lights on two of his EPP foamies - one a biplane.  They showed up very well.  I flew my Goldberg Electra with glow wire.  It was fun climbing to altitude and shutting off the motor and gliding around in the dark!

While we were flying, everyone else huddled around the fire and made S'mores.  I didn't try any, but I'm sure they were good!  It was about 11:30pm when Linda and I finally got home.  Had to let the fire burn down enough to put it out.

We have two more picnics scheduled, one in the Summer and one in the Fall, so if you didn't make this one, maybe you can come to one of these!  Smiley

Cold and windy, but fun. Chuck did a fine job of cooking and not a single person turned down food!

Thanks Chuck!
