This year will be our 25th Annual Fly-In for Diabetes! The event will be held at the Indy RC South field on Saturday, September 18th, from 10am 'til 5pm. We hope you will be able to join us and help us raise money for the ADA! TV Channel 59 had a camera crew down at the field on Tuesday morning, 8/31.
I was unable to get away from work to attend, but Bob Badger (who covered for me) and several other Southside members were able to put on a "show" for them.
The result will appear on Channel 59 @ 8:15am on Sept 13th in a segment called "Paying-it-Forward" and should reflect well on our club's fund raising efforts. Bob was assured we would also get a link and a reference to our website for more details on the event. The segment will only air once, but the video will reside on the Channel 59 website under Paying-it-Forward for some time.
It would be interesting to see if the club web site gets an unusual number of hits starting at 8am on the 13th and for the rest of the day. If it does we may need a contingency parking plan.
By the way for what it is worth, according to Wikipedia:
Pay It Forward was a movie made in 2000 starring Hayley Joel Osmont, Kevin Spacey, Jim Caviezel, Helen Hunt, Jon Bon Jovi and Jay Mohr.
The concept of 'paying it forward', as was the concept in the film, was for a person to do something helpful/beneficial for someone else, something 'big', and then ask for them to not do something in return to them, but rather to 'pay it forward' by doing something big for another few people. The idea was to eventually positively change the world.
