Glad I went to the field today.
I had a new twin to maiden.

This plane was designed and built by a man named Courtney in Dallas, Tx.
I saw it hanging at Mike's Hobby Shop in Dallas while we were on vacation last October.
Luckily, I was able to fit it into the van for the ride home!  Smiley

It took a while to get both engines broke in and dialled in, but it was worth it.

The plane weighs just over 8 pounds and uses (2) OS 46 SF engines for motivation.
At full power, it really hauls the mail and sounds good too.

Mike of Mike's Hobby Shop told me that they flew well and landed nice.
His description was right on the money - a real joy to fly - and land.
BTW, if you're ever in Dallas, you MUST check out his Hobby Shop!

Looking forward to some more stick time on this over the Summer...  Smiley

Pat,

Did you see Brandon's earlier post?  He was unable to see the attached photo until after he logged in.

Are attached photos, etc only available to registered members?

John Gaither used his radar gun to clock the Texas Twin at the Ticket Fly to see how fast it was going.
According to his reading, it was doing 102 mph when it blew past!  Smiley

On a later flight I lost the back half of one of my mufflers, so if anyone happens to find the back half of an OS muffler, please let me know.  Fortunately, I recognized the sound soon enough and was able to land on the runway.  As soon as I applied power to taxi, the engine with 1/2 a muffler died.

Finally solved my muffler problems!

After losing another (3) rear muffler halves, I decided that there had to be a better (and cheaper) solution.

I went with the Macs one piece muffler - http://www.macspro.com/onepiece.asp
These mufflers seem to give the engines a bit more power as I'm now able to swing 11x6 props on the 46SF engines.  They seemed happier on the 10.5x6 props with the stock mufflers.

Now, I wonder if I could fit a pair of OS 55 AX engines in it?   Smiley

Flew the Texas Twin at the 2008 Fly-In for Diabetes yesterday.

Had a little trouble with the port engine.  It quit on the first takeoff attempt and nearly quit on the 2nd takeoff, but did finally come alive.  (Obviously I need to do some adjusting).

Tim Mills, our tireless announcer, questioned whether the Texas Twin really was a 100mph+ airplane.  Fortunately, John Gaither had his radar gun and was able to get a reading.

I'm pleased to report that it reached a top speed of 114mph!!!
That's 12mph faster than the last time John clocked it.

I guess those new mufflers really did help!
