Hi Juan,
Glad you found the forum. I'll try to answer your questions as best I can.
1. The DX5e will work fine at our field. It uses DSM2 technology and automatically selects 2 unused 2.4GHz frequencies when it is switched on.
2. Most transmitters sold these days are Mode 2 - throttle & rudder on the left stick, elevator & aileron on the right stick. If the left stick ratchets up/down, then it's mode 2. Most transmitters can be switched from Mode 2 to Mode 1 by moving the ratchet to the other stick and selecting Mode 1 via the configuration (if a computer radio).
3. We have both Mode 2 & Mode 1 flyers, but most are Mode 2.
4. Yes, the DX5e can be buddy boxed. Check out the following user's guide for more info on the DX5e -
http://www.horizonhobby.com/ProdInfo/Files/SPM5500_User-Guide.pdf5. You will need to fill out a club membership application, provide proof of current AMA, and pay club dues before you will be voted in.
6. Our next club meeting is this evening at 7:30pm. Directions are on the website. Hopefully you will be able to attend!

Hi all - or Chuck (as it seems you are the go to guy)
I am making the move from electric to gas planes and want to join Indy RC South, but I have a few questions. In no particular order:
1. I am looking at purchasing a ready to fly plane from Hobby Town - it uses a DX5e - 5 Channel, Full Range 2.4Ghz transmitter....will this work at the field as far as being able to switch frequencies at the field?
2. I am assuming that this transmitter is in Mode 2 already, if not, can it be switched to mode 2?
3. Does everyone at Indy RC fly on mode 2?
4. Can this transmitter be connected to a buddy system for training?
5. Do I just show up at a meeting to be voted in? If I am accepted, then do I complete the paperwork, or do I need to complete paperwork first, then get accepted after dues are paid?
6. I have read the rules and regs on the website, and they seem straight forward and I look forward to coming to a meeting.
Thanks!
