Here is some important information regarding the Plainfield Flying Site:

The field is located on the West edge of Plainfield, off of US 40 at 39 deg. 41.392 min. North latitude x 86 deg. 24.356 min. West longitude.  Address to the Grounds Entrance is 501 W. Main Street, Plainfield, Indiana

They are located on “Short Term Offender Program” grounds (formerly known as the Indiana Boy's School), so we have to abide by some rules set up by them like no alcohol, no smoking, and no firearms.

To get to the field, take U.S. 40 to the west side of Plainfield and turn South at the historic Indiana Boy's School sign on the side of the hill. You go straight at the stop sign and follow the paved road around to our entrance on the left; you can't miss us.   You will need to turn on your hazard lights from the stop sign to the drive to tell the guards you're going to the field.

Update from Matt Brown - courtesy of Bill Rugenstein:
---------------------------------------------------

Hey Bill,

Not too secure right now. Most of the plans for the facility were put on hold due to financial issues.

For this weekend, you can come in the back way if you are familiar with it or come in the front entrance off of washington street (US40). The entrance road there has moved a couple hundred yards to the west. It is now at a traffic light.

If you can remember, turn on your emergency flashers at the three way stop, with the security gate to your right.

I hope we get mostly dry weather with low humidity!!!

See ya there,
Matt

There were (4) of us from the Southside that went to this great event!  Smiley

They have a very nice field, with a paved runway.
I didn't even have to get my pop-up or chair out of the van.
They had plenty of shade and places to sit.

They took very good care of us and fixed the pilots Brats and Big Reds for lunch.
I didn't know what a Big Red was, but it's a spicy red skinned sausage - VERY tasty!  Smiley

It was a little breezy, but was mostly down the runway.
The breeze made it feel cooler than it really was.

If you missed it, well you just missed a good time.
Hats off to Matt Brown and the rest of the Screaming Eagles crew for putting on this event!

Forgot to mention...

Bill test flew his new Thunderbirds F-16 ducted fan.
I'll let him fill you in on the details.

(Did I mention that he bought it during a crash sale from Hobby Lobby?)
