Me and my father are looking to get further into the hobby and we wanted to check out Indy RC South.  Currently we just fly a Blade MCX and a Ember 2 with a DX7 but we wanted to get into the larger RC planes.  I noticed that the forums seem quit devoid of activity the last couple of times ive visited.  All the local RC clubs seem the same way.  I suspect that there might actually be a members only sections with more activity but I have to wonder.

Is the club active?  Is there somewhere you might suggest I look to see if i could find some used equipment/trainers?  Id like to know more about the club itself and maybe even meet some of you in person.  I realise its still cold outside and the flying season hasnt started yet but I am trying to see how things are.

Any information would be appreaciated.

Yes, the club is active.  Sorry about the lack of activity on the forums.  We have a handful of people that regularly make posts.  We would like to see more.  There are however some good resources on the site.

Joining RC South

There is a members section that will have some more posts, but probably not the volume one would think.

We have an monthly meeting that you would be more than welcome to attend. The next meeting is march 8th. Meeting Info

Chuck Baker will probably chime in on this thread.  He is the current club president and I'm certain will be more than happy to give you more information.

Also, look here for some information about our indoor electric events Indoor Events

I think most people use the larger forums more frequently for some reason. The club is very active just not in this forum. Come to a meeting and meet some of the great people that make up the club.

Thanks for checking out our website!

As Pat pointed out, not many of our members post on the club website forums.  I finally got around to cleaning up my email inbox, so you should see several new posts and calendar entries.

Have you been to any of the indoor flying events in the area?  I try to keep the front page of the website updated with Upcoming Events.
I don't expect flying to start down at the field until at least March.  We've got to get this snow melted and things need to dry out.

You say you're wanting to get into larger RC planes.  Are you wanting to stay with electric, or try the glow/gas-powered models?  You'd probably have better luck finding a used glow trainer than an electric.  Suggest you check with Hobby R/C (up on the SE side of Indy) to see if they have anything hanging from the ceiling.  Their phone number is 317-359-6242.

Hope this helps!
