Anybody go to the Warbird Fly-In this morning?

Looked pretty breezy to me.

I did go.  Was way too windy... but despite that there were a few nice warbirds that came out.

Unfortunately, I did witness a noob chose this windy day for an inaugural flight for a immaculately detailed F4U Top Flight model.  This pilot  made the mistake of turning down wind after takeoff with out much air speed...  not sure if the engine would not respond or he actually cut the throttle back, but it ended up stalling into a death spiral into the ground behind the tree line. Nothing was salvageable, even the scale pilot was in numerous pieces.

There was a beautiful Sea Fury on site and that pilot was smart enough not to attempt to fly in the 40mph+ gusty winds...

Rege's son put on a show with his helicopter since no one was flying.  I suspect he will be a contestant at XFC next year.
