It might work on a plane, but as I understand it they are optimized for helicopters...

Also, I believe that some of the Heli ESCs have a governer mode to maintain rotor rpm at various pitch settings.
You might consider getting a regular controller if this is a fixed-wing application. The Castle Thunderbird controllers are a nice cost-effective option -
