Bill Rugenstein has finally convinced me that the Light Flite R/C Bug is a better indoor combat plane than the IFOs that I have been flying for years.  They are made of EPP, so they're flexible, yet they have a carbon fiber frame for stability.  The motor and servos are better protected by the profile fuselage.

I'm in the process of getting one together so I can keep up with Billy at the Anderson combat sessions!  Smiley

I got bit by (or should I say buy) the Bug.  Got the bare naked kit today.  What motors are people putting in their bugs?  Barb does not have any "Blue Wonders" in stock...

I know Barb has carried the Blue Wonder motors before.
I'll ask if she can get some more in.

I've probably got one if you're needing one right away.
You can replace it when she gets some in stock.

Let me know...

I haven't got a motor yet, but Barb did have the ESC.  It is a FEIGAO FG-10A.  Small and light, but
I have no clue how to set it up since my Chinese is really rusty.  I have not found English directions online yet...  It has only one connection to the Receiver, so I assume it powers the receiver and servos through the one connector?

Those would be what I was looking for!  Albeit, horibly translated...
Not sure what drawing the instructions are referring to, but it fairly obvious that it can only be connected in one way anyway...

Now, all I need is a motor.  I'll have to call Barb today to see if she got any in.

Talked to Barb this evening.  The motor she showed you today, the FEIGAO inrunner, is not the right motor.  You're looking for the Blue 2712-12 outrunner.  I showed her what to order, so she should have some in soon.  If you need one right away, I could part with mine 'til she gets some more in.  She sells them for $19.50.

Thanks.  Is the 2712-12 the same one they sell at www.lightflite.com?

Looks very similar to the 1300kv motor at united hobbies

I can be patient till she gets one in.  I probably won't get a chance to fly again till later this week anyway...

What dual rate settings do you use on yours?

The Light Flite motor is 1100Kv, the 2712-12 is, I believe, 1200Kv.
The 1200Kv will pull a little more current for the same size prop.
The United Hobbies 1300Kv will need to run an even smaller prop.
The Bug seems to do better on the lower rpm motors swinging a larger prop.

As far as expo goes, I normally set mine up for 40% on high rate and 20% on low rate.
That way, they're nice and smooth around center, but still have lots of throw when needed.
Just make sure that you're putting in the right expo.  Some radios require negative expo values!

Thanks for the info.  Looks like the 1100 kV is a better match for the aircraft.  Not sure about stats on the 2712-12 as there is not much information out there.  A description on ebay gives it specs as a 1100 kv.  The IFO site site does not mention what kV the motor is?  I can only assume the 2712-12 is the same that he ships with the kit?

I have a DX7 which I believe is the same as your radio.

What prop do you use?
