A lot of you don't know me.  I started flying at RC South in 2000.  The people that do know me, may describe me as a better builder than pilot.(unfortunately)   I have repaired several planes in the last 6 or so years.... 3 with wing damage.  The Space Walker ARF dampage below was major.  Those that know me ALSO know I am a pretty truthful person.  That being said......  This 'Walker went back into the air with NO trim changes on my computer radio!!!!!  I flew it for another year, then re-covered, added smoke and lights, and got rid of the plastic wing tips.  I sold it out of Hobby RC after flying it another year. 

My latest "mishap" was with my 110" XL Big Bird sailplane.  I did something stupid by trying to trim the throttle end points, (electric), while it was flying.  Motor would not shut off all the way. 
This project is turning out real well.  I am adding flaps since covering is off anyway. I am almost finished covering. 

Ray Hayes is the owner of Skybench Aerotech in Ft. Wayne.  I sent him the repair photos.  My Bird was already on his site last summer before the crash.  He ask if he could put the photos on his site.

PS.  The Navy plane is an LT 40 ARF that I kit bashed .....after..... YOU GOT IT..... another mishap.
       I crashed it practicing for 2005 City Wide.  The nose has an almost full balsa cowl, 2 servos for the
      ailerons, struts were added, and I altered tail feather shape.

Something I might mention that someone told me back when I started in this hobby:
"DON'T head straight to the trash can with your damaged airframe". (assuming it is not splinters). 
"Go ahead and take out the useable components, but store the airframe for several days, or a week. Then make your decision".  That SpaceWalker ARF in the photo above was my first bigger plane.  On the way home from the field I called Hobby RC and ordered another one. A day or two later I called them back and cancelled my order, (since she had not called it in yet).  I was there the next day with my list for balsa sticks and sheets, etc. It is so easy with the ARF's out there to, "just go get another one".  There is nothing wrong with that...... but repairing ..... and improving it at the same time CAN be rewarding. Those new to the hobby can also learn about "what is under that covering"!   This may give you the urge to repair OR try your hand at a kit next winter. .........lownslo
