4742-Ray Bol l Boulevard Columbus, Indiana 47203 The Atterbury-Bakalar Air Museum will host an Armed Forces Day Open House event on Saturday May 17th from 9AM to 4PM and Sunday May 18th 10AM to 4PM. The museum is located at the Columbus, Indiana Municipal Airport near the airport control tower and F-4 Phantom Fighter static display. Fly in or drive in. Special features of the Armed Forces Day Open House include displays with W.W.II and Vietnam military re-enactors, vintage military vehicles, equipment and period uniforms, classic and vintage cars, and remote controlled model aircraft displays. Self directed museum gallery tours will showcase display updates for 2008. A food and soft drink wagon will be on location. Museum souvenirs are available for purchase. View the historical markers on Bakalar Green near the museum that honor the Air Force units that served at the former military air base. Tilley the miniature Columbus fire truck will be available for children’s rides Saturday only. This event is free to the public. Donations may be made and museum memberships are available. Outdoor displays weather permitting. No rain date. Be a kid at the airport fence once again and watch the airplanes take off and land. Event sponsored by the Atterbury-Bakalar Air Museum Volunteers.
