Posted for John Gaither (event coordinator)
-----------------------------------------

Join us for a casual evening of food and fun at the Southside field on Saturday May 20th.

Hot dogs, hamburgers and condiments will be supplied by the club.
Bring a side dish or dessert to share.

Food will be ready at about 5:00 p.m.
Hope to see you there!

If anyone has time to service the Grills prior to the 20th, please let John Gaither know!

Thanks!

Is this for members only or open to anyone? I'd like to come down and visit if it's open.

As far as I know, visitors are welcome...   Unless John or one of the officers posts otherwise...  Come on down.

Looks like the weather is going to finally cooperate for some flyin'  Grin

How was the turnout?

Sorry I couldn't make it, but Tucker and I were down at the Mint Julep Scale Meet.

I had a great time too... sure would have liked to see more people being such a nice day but that meant more open air for those that were there. I think someone said many guys were at that scale meet.

Sorry to hear the turnout wasn't very good...

Tucker and I just went down to the Mint Julep Scale Meet for the day - we didn't fly this year.
Didn't have an opportunity to get any practice in ahead of time.
Bill Rugenstein and his wife came down to spectate as did Randy Leulf.

Art Shelton (Fokker Eindecker), Mike Bealmear (Siemens-Schuckart DI) and Billy Thompson (Sopwith Pup) were there representing the Dawn Patrol.

Lots of nice scale planes were on hand and there were no serious mishaps, at least not while we were there.

I'll be posting some pictures to the website in the near future.

Anybody get any pictures from the Hotdog Roast?

Wasn't a problem for me because had there been many more guys there I'd got to fly less being I had my helicopter.

We had a decent turnout.. We went through almost 40 hamburgers and around 30 hot dogs.  If we had any more show up, we might have ran out of food.  We did run out of hot dogs!
I think we had more for this picnic, than we've had at any in the last 2 or three years.  We're starting to see a real club atmosphere at the Southside.  I hope we can keep up the momentum that has started already!
Who knows maybe we'll surpass our budgeted # of members and see an increase overall this year.  Wouldn't that be something!

Chuck and guys, sorry we scheduled this during the mint julep.   You were missed and I know we would have seen your friendly faces otherwise.   We did have a solo, and some buddy box sessions.  Life is good!

Yes, by food time many more did show up so I guess I should have said I was suprised by the low number there between 2-5pm. However with the sun staying out until 9pm many guys are loving that because they can show up later and still fly more.

My wife was ready to go by 6:30 or I would have stayed longer.
