Take the screw out of the flybar and you will not break blades or flybars again.

Chase the cat with impunity (no fear).  Grin

Go ahead and smack into that bookcase.  Grin

Just snap everything back together and crash again!  Wink

Make the mCX scoot.

I changed the servo center for the elevator to 125% forward & 70% reverse. This requires a REAL radio and not the stock one. You will need to tweak the sub-trim and change the push rod length.

Afterwards you can get some decent forward speed from the mCX.

Have fun CRASH'N!  Grin

I think I may need a new 5-in-1 Control Unit for my MCX. Whenever I put a battery in, the MCX lights up like it is supposed to, but when I fly it for just a few seconds, the light starts blinking and then I lose power. Tonight I pulled the battery out right after this had happened again and put it into my MSR. The MSR flew for several minutes before it started blinking and lost power. I use the same batteries with the MCX as I do with the MSR. The MSR always flies fine and the MCX always loses power shortly after takeoff. This is a new problem. When I first got the MCX it flew just fine.

The 5-in-1 Control Unit is $60 and I'd rather spend that on something new instead of something I already have. Anybody have any ideas on something that can be fixed instead of replaced?

Hi Mark,

Sounds to me that maybe there is something going on with your battery?  Have you tried a new battery?

If you've got a lot of time on your mCX, it might be that the motors need replacing.
They are brushed motors after all...  Smiley

This would explain why the same battery flies your mSR just fine.

Willowsway,

The batteries were the first thing I thought of too but since I was getting much longer flight times with the same batteries out of the MSR, I decided that it was not the batteries.

Chuck,

I did replace the motors and saw some improvement. I also removed the center shaft and cleaned it too. I was hopeful because there was a hairball that had wrapped around the shaft but when I put it all back together, I didn't see any improvement in the flight time.

I just got off the phone with Horizon Hobby and the tech said it was the 5 in 1 controller. I told him that I'd only had it since September and asked him if he thought it was normal for the 5 in 1 controller to quit on me after that length of time. I was hoping he would volunteer to send me a new controller but no such luck. So now I have to decide whether to get a new controller, or for a few dollars more, just go ahead and replace the whole thing since there is another part broken on it.

I'll probably pick up one of those new 150mAh batteries tonight and see what that does before I replace anything else.

Mark,

I'm really surprised that they didn't tell you to send it in...

Just looked at the Horizon website and see that the BNF mCX is $89.99, plus they have a $10 rebate, so it's really only $79.99.
The 5-in-1 unit is listed at $59.99, so for $20 more you get the whole chopper, plus another battery.
