Won't be long and we'll get the first event of the year going.

I've got idea's for this event. I have one that I doubt has EVER been done.  I own a new piece of technology that will be unveiled at the Old time fun fly.  In addition we new a few other tricks to master.  Some of the standbys are below.  I'm thinking we'll draw 4 of these out of a hat:  I'm hoping to go with the easier ones, since it's EARLY in the season and some of us(yours truly) need to dust off the thumbs

Please help me add to the list.
John

SUDDEN DEATH
Pilot takes off and circles in pattern until an unknown time period passes. Time starts at an audible signal, and pilot must land as soon as possible. Landing must be on runway. Low time wins.

FAST AND SLOW
Plane flies a straight course twice. First pass is for all out speed. (Diving plane is allowed.) Second pass is flown slowly as possible, maintaining reasonable altitude and course. Largest difference in the two times wins.

SLALOM
Place 5 balloons on the runway. Taxi thru them, weaving in & out. Taxi back the same way. Break a balloon and get a five second penalty. Low time wins.

KAMAKAZI BUST!
Pilot takes off and calls for helium balloon to be released from runway center, and also starting stopwatch. Break the balloon before it reaches the stratosphere.... Low time wins.

I received the following email from John Gaither regarding the event...
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Had a decent turnout.. We had 11 flyers and several spectators.   It was a little windy and we had a few oops's   Me included.. Ripped the landing gear off of my Tiger 2!   It's  back in business already Though.. It was a pretty clean break and when I fitted the wood back in place it was pretty solid even without epoxy.. So all I did was epoxy the mount back and added a couple of support beams just in case.

The Radar pass was a little tougher than I thought.  The gun only worked ad about 100', so you had to make a pretty close pass.  It was kind of tough even for some of our better flyers with the wind blowing them around.

We also did a blindfolded balloon bust.   only two people were able to taxi and bust the balloon with someone else talking them trough it.  I was surprised on that one!

The egg drop was normal, however we did get an egg to hit the catcher, but not the bucket.  I can't remember who that was.
