Received the following from Ted Brindle:
--------------------------------------

We didn't get enough folks to volunteer to man the RC Tent to make it a good display for the show so I am recommending to the committee that we not have the tent for the 2008 show.

Please pass the word.

Update from Ted Brindle on the R/C Tent:
----------------------------------------

Due to the lack of interest from our Indy area RC community (we only had 8 folks from all area clubs sign up) we will NOT be having a RC Tent at the Indy Air Show this year.  The show administration would like to have us at the show so if we can get better support in 2009 I am sure that we can again have the tent to show off our sport/hobby.

The Air Show is August 22,23,24.  The Friday event is a practice with most of the performers in action and cost is just $5 with much smaller crowds.  The gates open at 10am with practice show starting about 11am on Friday.  Gates open at 8am on Sat and Sun.

Hope to see you all at the show this year and supporting the RC Tent in 2009.

Chuck- Am I remembering correctly that the location of the display/activity tent (at an "out of the main visitor stream" location) was the primary reason that our club decided not to participate at the '08 airshow? If "yes", does Ted, or the appropriate airshow person know our reasoning? No criticism, just wondering. Jerry Sharp

Hi Jerry,

Yes, the concerns over tent location were relayed to Ted.

I don't believe the tent actually moved, but the main parking area did.

The Air Show is looking for volunteers...  (posted for Ted Brindle)

Fellow aviation fanatics----

If you would like to see a lot of the action and excitement that goes on in getting ready for the Indy Air Show we could use your help (next week) on Thursday Aug 21 and Friday Aug 22 setting up chairs and tables in the chalet areas.  We could use folks starting at 9am each (or later if you can't make it that early).  We will providing drinks and lunch each day.  On Friday you can watch the performers practice will you work as you will be right on the flight line.  On Thursday we will probably be working until near dark so if you can spend even just a couple of hours after work on Thursday that would be great.  I suggest you wear a hat, sunscreen and bring work gloves.  Any and all help will be appreciated.

If you think you will be able to help out please email or call so we can plan to have enough food.  Even if you don't let me know ahead just come on out.  Enter the airport via the normal access road off of Mount Comfort Road - when you get up near the hangers you will see a road to the right (south) - turn down that road - you will see a doublewide trailer with a flagpole on the right - park in the grass and come on in the trailer and tell them you are there to help with tables and chairs and they will point you in the right direction.

Thanks in advance for all you help - remember all of the net proceeds from the show go to Riley and other children health charities in central Indiana.
