Anyone test the Swift II to see how they compare with the corsairs?

I've got a Swift II ready to go, except my motor hasn't arrived yet  Sad

Got another race in, Sunday August 17th.

It seemed strange with almost no wind  Huh The new pylon markers / Flags that Bob Badger made were hanging limp most of the evening...

In the end, Duane and I tied, despite the fact he snuck by me each race he started. He just failed to start one race. I guess you do get forgetful as you get old... He put a dead battery in his plane  Grin

There were very few cuts reported, I was called for a critical cut, which took me from 1st/2nd down to 4th in the 2nd round  Roll Eyes But that's racing!

Eric flew a Swift// with us, and was competitive. With a few more sessions and familiarity with the wing, he'll be a force to deal with.

The suggestion was made to hold 'Time Trials' for new guys who want to try the course out, but who are not comfortable flying in the tight pack we sometimes seem to get. It's an interesting proposal, and I'd like to hear some feedback on it from other members:

The pilot would launch, and run a lap or so to get comfortable, then we'd start the clock. We'd clock 3 laps, and use this as the basis for scoring.

Again, I'd like to hear some feedback. We'll give it a try next race (September 28), so get your planes ready!

As always, a blast was had by all!

Definitely a lot of fun!   First race, a proctologist with an illegal airframe came through the rear of the rental swift II I was flying and broke the prop.  Many thanks to Duane as he must've felt guilty after my exam an he let my fly his swift for the next few races so I could get comfortable with the course. Despite Gene's complement, I'm not sure I was that competitive.  I was lapped at least 3 times during the last race.  I was taking the long way around to keep out of peoples way since I'm not comfortable in the tight pack and was still sore from the exam in the first heat.

I got my motors in today, so I'll be flying my swift during the next race.  I highly recommend anyone interested to give it a try.  I'm definitely not a great pilot, but I still had blast!  It brought back memories when I used to do carpet oval RC car racing with the slight difference that these planes are slow enough you can actually blink your eyes during the race...

Actually I need to reschedule it... With the Colts game at home, it screws up a couple of our schedules.

I'm going to reschedule for the following Sunday, 10/19 @ 5pm.

An e-mail should go out tonight.

Due to a home Colts game, let's move the 10/12 race to 10/19. Still @ 5pm.

Results from 9-28 race

Small group made it. Must have been a NASCAR race on or something?

Anyway, I did poorly, smashing my wing into the Pylon in the 1st round, and then dorking it nose into the ground after the finish of the 2nd round. I had cut a corner in the 2nd...

Matt dominated, with the only Corsair out there. Mine is still in pieces from the race at the ADA show.

We did not realize the trouble Eric was having, until after racing, and then gave him some help to get his wing dialed in. He'll be a force to recon with next race.
