You can also go down through Louisville and Elizabethtown. It's a bit further, but time is about the same since more of it is interstate.
Saturday is the best day to spectate. They start flying about 9am in the morning and continue 'til about 4pm normally. Around noon, they set all the aircraft out on the runway for spectators to take photos.
