In-Door Winter Flying

In-door flying for the club has been arranged and will begin this Saturday (November 17) from 1:00-4:00 at the Benedict Inn Retreat and Convention Center, 1402 Southern Avenue Beech Grove. 

This is located just North of St. Francis Hospital.  Parking is in the rear of the Benedict facility. 

A second session is scheduled for December 1st from 1pm-4pm. 

The cost per flyer is $10 per session. 
Spectators are welcome. 
Initial sessions are for Indy RC South club members ONLY. 
Future sessions may be opened to others.

It is recognized that our dates may at times conflict with other area in-door sessions.  It is requested that to the degree possible, priority be given to our dates.  The future of continued club dates is subject to participation necessary to make it economically doable.

John Gaither just informed me that the following indoor dates have been added:

Sunday, December 16th
Sunday, January 6th

Flying times will be from 1pm-4pm on both days.

Someone that was flying this past Saturday lost the fin from their I.F.O.
I remember seeing a red I.F.O. flying about, but I don't remember whose it was.

Anyone headed to Beech Grove today?  The roads were not that bad last night, but I'm not sure what they are like now since the wind has come in...

It was a lot of fun today.  My Bug didn't loose too much weight, and what it did loose, it was able to recover.  Thanks to Duane for finding the pieces.   I also owe Bill some thanks and a new prop.  The hard floor was not so forgiving to my prop and I did not bring a spare in my rush to leave the house.  I did score some points tho... as I landed my Bug in the Basketball goal. I wish I had taken a picture of that as it was a good laugh had by all.

I ended up going in to work after flying and didn't get home 'til after 11pm.
So, I haven't really determined how much damage was inflicted.

I do seem to remember a certain red and blue striped Bug nearly taking off my landing gear.   :)

Sorry about that! I'll blame that one on Klyde Morris (http://www.indyrcsouth.org/gallery/displayimage.php?album=19&pos=6)...   It wasn't intentional, I'm just not that good of a pilot yet...

I'm sure you'll get another chance to take some weight of my bug at the next session.

I was here and no one was around.  The gym was taken over by a bunch of teenagers.  Was today cancelled?

I just talked to John Gaither... They're there and flying.
I'll be there in a few minutes.

It doesn't start until 1pm and runs to 4pm.

I think I heard John say the 20th.  You missed out on a lot of carnage.

Where in Beech Grove is this fly-in? I will be moving to Beech Grove in about a month and would like to find a new area to check out.

You should be able to find directions at the top of this thread.

Stop by and check it out on Sunday if you have time!

The next two sessions will be on Feb 24 and Mar 9, both Sundays, from 2pm-5pm.

We should be able to sign you up at the indoor session, if you want to join our club.

Brand new to R/C helis and was wondering if people are flying helis or planes in Beech Grove. I live in BG and would love to come out and check out some flyers.
I've got the 'breakin parts' down pat, just need to work on the flying part!

I was really hoping to just show up and check out the action. I was not wanting to bring my heli at this time. I will likely just stop by and say hello this weekend.
I own an Esky Honey Bee Fixed Pitch, I just cannot fly it very well yet!
I will be looking to join in the next month or so, need to get my AMA membership first.

If I'm not mistaken, the Honeybee is very similar to the Eco Piccolo that I used to have.  It was a squirrely little thing, but it did fly.

Have you seen the new coax choppers, like the Blade CX2?  They fly MUCH better.
