The Indianapolis RC South (IRCS) club was established on the 24th of February, 1972. We’ve been flying at our current field since 1975. We are an organization of model aviation enthusiasts. IRCS is a club chartered through the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA). We are dedicated to the advancement and enjoyment of model aviation.
As indicated by our name, our primary interest is radio controlled flying of model airplanes, helicopters and multi-copters. Our members fly many types of aircraft including primary trainers, gliders, aerobatic, racers, military warbirds, and giant scale. These planes are powered by gas, glow fuel or electric.
Throughout the year IRCS sponsors several events for club members and guests. These events include fun-fly contests, ticket flies, fly-ins, picnics, and an annual fund raiser for the American Diabetes Association (ADA).
The IRCS flying site is situated on property leased from a local farmer and is located southeast of Greenwood, Indiana. We have basically 4 grass runways that range in length from 300 to 350 feet. The main runway is oriented North-South, and we stand on the West side of the runway, making for the best flying in the afternoon/evening.
We encourage you to visit our field to watch and to ask questions.
